CBD / CBG crystals, isolates & distillates

This page describes the range of our distribution partner VaporSpirit. HempJoy carries four items of its own — face cream, body lotion, full spectrum oil and the set of all three. The text below dates from the time of our own shop.

Isolate versus distillate – the difference
CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD – a crystalline powder with more than 99% pure cannabidiol. It contains CBD only; all the other cannabinoids, terpenes and plant compounds have been removed. Neutral in taste and entirely THC-free.
CBD distillate is a honey-like, viscous mass with a CBD content of 80-90%. It contains other cannabinoids and terpenes (the full spectrum effect) and is therefore more potent in its effect than pure isolate – but less pure.

Using CBD isolates and distillates
Making your own CBD oils
With CBD isolate or distillate you can make your own CBD oils with an exactly defined CBD content. For example: 10g of carrier oil (MCT/hemp seed oil) + 1g of isolate = 10% CBD oil. The advantage: full control over concentration, carrier oil and THC content.

Baking CBD edibles
CBD is fat-soluble – it is best to dissolve the isolate in butter, coconut oil or cream (at 60-80°C) and work it into your recipe. Take care not to heat it too strongly (>140°C), or the CBD breaks down.

Vaporising concentrates
Wax, shatter and crumble can be vaporised in dab vaporisers at 230-260°C. The gentler option is to add small amounts to flowers in a classic vaporiser.

Making CBD topicals and balms
For your own balms and creams, stir the isolate into melted shea butter or coconut oil, combine with beeswax and let it cool. That gives you your own topical CBD products for skincare.

CBG crystals – the speciality for connoisseurs
CBG (cannabigerol) is the „mother of all cannabinoids“ – all the other cannabinoids, CBD and THC included, form out of CBG during growth. Pure CBG is notable for:

Focusing, clear effects – ideal during the day, without sedation
Antibacterial properties – currently promising research
A mood-lifting effect – investigated in studies on depression and anxiety
Rarity – the hemp plant contains less than 1% CBG, which makes it more demanding to extract

Purity & laboratory analyses – our quality assurance
Every batch is tested by independent laboratories for the following parameters:

CBD/CBG content (HPLC analysis)
THC content (<0,05% in isolates, <1% in distillates)
Pesticides and heavy metals
Microbiological purity
Solvent residues (particularly important in distillates)

Laboratory analyses can be viewed on the individual product page or requested by email.

Frequently asked questions about CBD isolates & distillates

How much THC does CBD isolate contain?
Pure CBD isolate is practically THC-free (below 0,05% / not detectable). That makes isolates ideal for anyone worried about drug tests or for people who are very sensitive to THC.

Is isolate or distillate more effective?
Distillates contain other cannabinoids and terpenes and make use of the entourage effect. They often work more strongly than pure isolate at a comparable CBD dose. But if you want CBD alone with no other substances, choose the isolate.

How do I dose CBD isolate correctly?
1 mg of isolate ≈ 1 mg of pure CBD. For a 5% oil you mix 0.5g of isolate into 10ml of carrier oil. A precision mini-scale is helpful, as even small amounts contain a lot of CBD.

Are CBD isolates vegan?
Yes. All our isolates, distillates and crystals are 100% plant-based and contain no animal ingredients whatsoever.

How long do isolates keep?
Stored cool, dark and dry, CBD isolates keep for 2-3 years without any loss of effect. Distillates keep for about 12-18 months.

What is the advantage of Swiss made isolate?
Swiss made isolate is subject to strict Swiss quality control, is obtained from certified Swiss organic hemp and offers the greatest transparency in the production chain – unlike much imported material of unclear origin.

What is the difference between distillate and full spectrum oil?
Distillate is the highly concentrated cannabinoid concentrate (80-90% CBD), full spectrum oil is the finished product diluted with a carrier oil (5-25% CBD). From 1g of distillate you can make 10-15g of full spectrum oil, depending on the dilution.

Can I take CBD isolate directly?
Yes, for example under the tongue (sublingually). The effect sets in quickly. Dosing is difficult, though, because even the smallest amounts contain a lot of CBD – a precision scale is necessary.

Are the products suitable for research?
Yes. With laboratory analyses, purity above 97% and consistent quality, our isolates are suitable for scientific studies, university research and commercial analysis.
