CBD after tooth extraction
A randomised pilot study with eight participants compared two CBD doses with placebo and with ibuprofen and paracetamol.
What was investigated
Eight adults were randomly assigned to four groups after a simple tooth extraction: CBD 17 mg/ml, CBD 37 mg/ml, placebo, and the standard therapy of ibuprofen and paracetamol. The oils were taken as needed over seven days; participants recorded their pain digitally several times a day over 72 hours.
What was found
The 37 mg/ml group reported the lowest pain scores; their course resembled that of the standard therapy. The lower dose was barely above placebo, and placebo was highest. No serious side effects occurred, occasionally mild tiredness and a dry mouth.
What the study does not show
Eight participants carry no statistically robust conclusion; the authors explicitly call their results exploratory. One group had less pain even before the procedure, inflammatory markers were not measured, and the difference in taste between the oils may have weakened the blinding. Ibuprofen and paracetamol remain the established standard therapy.
