What was investigated

Two researchers at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia searched PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science in October 2025 and evaluated 24 original studies on CBD and bone. They recorded study design, CBD preparation, dosage, the bone measures taken and the presumed mechanisms of action.

What was found

Eleven of the 24 studies reported favourable effects on bone formation, mineralisation, callus quality or strength. Eleven arrived at mixed results, two found no discernible benefit. Among the mechanisms the authors name cannabinoid receptor 2 and the RANKL/osteoprotegerin signalling pathway.

What the study does not show

All of the findings evaluated come from cell and animal models. Nothing is thereby shown for humans; the authors call for robust clinical trials to establish efficacy, dosage and long-term safety in the first place.
